For the money… Learn & Master Guitar is our best pick as well as one of the best “user” picks offered anywhere. Jamorama is great as well, but you will need to follow along in front of your computer.   Guitar Super Stars is yet another great choice for the person who wants to learn a variety of guitar playing styles.    There are other courses out there but for factors such as price, quailty of teaching materials, or overall effectiveness… they did not make it to our top picks.   So let’s look at these three first.

Learn & Master Guitar is the Premier Course of guitar lesson training anywhere other than personal one-on one lessons in your community.  It provides ten DVDs, five jam-along CDs and a 108 page book.  Although higher priced than others, you definitely get what you pay for here. And if you’re serious about learning to play the guitar the right way, this course will be hard to beat!.  It is packed with superb high-quality teaching content — with access to the website, high quality video production, as well as real pro players in the the Jam-Along CDs.

Guitar Super Stars is the next best choice. This course is again a down-loadable and computer-based Guitar training course.  This course may not be as in depth or have as many features as our other top picks do, but it offers a unique experience in learning to play the guitar.  It may be quite  helpful with the benefit of it’s videos and with the unique approach to learn that is offered with it…. and if you want to  learn to play the guitar in many different styles or (genres)… then Guitar Super Stars might be the right choice for you.

Review Summary: Because it does not seem to be as thorough a training course as the first two picks, Guitar Super Stars may be the best choice for someone with a more casual approach to learning to play the guitar.  If you decide to try this course… please post your comments on the pros and cons of your training experience.

Jamarama Acoustic is a course created by it’s originators to fill in the gaps in their first predominately Electric Guitar learning course.  there may be areas in musical theory that  the first course does not go into depth on.

Playing the Acoustic guitar for classical music, Country Music, or Smooth jazz … requires  a different approach to Guitar Tablature.   The “Guitar Tabs” or “Guitar Tablature” is the term used to describe the music theory behind reading music .  Understanding guitar tablature is very important if you want to make your living as a guitar musician when the music genre is more dependent on many chord and key changes.   Electric guitar players can eventually become limited and have a sort of “tunnel vision” when it comes to adapting to new music.

For instance if your are interested in blues guitar tablature, this course will teach you how to correctly read guitar sheet music to eventually become employed by many different blues guitar bands, classical orchestras, contemporary christian, and jazz bands.

This course focuses more on some easy guitar tablature training to help you become proficient reading music in any genre.  This may not be offered with many of the computer-based down-loadable courses, but for some students this is not a concern when first starting out as a beginning guitar player.
